Illinois is home to about 2.3 million Hispanic or Latino residents—roughly 18.5% of the state (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2019–2023 5-year estimates). Chicago and its suburbs (including communities like Aurora, Elgin, Joliet, and Cicero corridors) carry much of that population, with growing pockets downstate as well.
Families here plan quinceañeras with deep Mexican-American roots and a mix of other Latino traditions. What many still need is a local choreographer who shows up prepared: clear packages, a fair retainer, and rehearsals that actually stick when teens have school, sports, and work.
Fairytale Dances has done this work since July 2008. The Choreographer Startup Package shares the systems behind it—so you can build a teaching business in Illinois without inventing every form from scratch.
Illinois angles that matter
- Chicago and near suburbs: Higher density of families and more providers. Differentiation comes from organization, video of clean work, and bilingual-friendly communication.
- Far suburbs and collar counties: Courts often live across multiple towns. Your rehearsal plan and travel pricing become the product.
- Downstate and smaller cities: Fewer dedicated quince choreographers. Being consistent and easy to book can win the year.
This product is about teaching choreography only—not providing hired court dancers.

Pricing for Illinois (practical, not hype)
Winter weather, parking, and suburban sprawl all affect your real cost per booking. Build offers that survive those realities:
- Publish waltz / full court / surprise options so moms can compare apples to apples
- Add travel fees by zone when you leave your home base
- Collect a retainer when the date is held; keep cancellation language clear
- Rehearse at the family’s home or a studio—whichever families prefer—and price the logistics into the package
We do not invent statewide “average rates.” Module 3 and the worksheet help you set numbers from your costs and your competitors’ public packages.

Frequently asked questions
Is this only for rural choreographers?
It was built with small-town and rural gaps in mind, but the systems work in Chicago suburbs too. Anywhere families need a reliable teacher, the playbook applies.
Do I need a studio?
No. Many Illinois choreographers rehearse at the family’s home, a church hall, or a rented room. Price the space and the drive into your offer.
Are templates legal advice?
No. Have an Illinois-licensed attorney review contracts before you use them with clients.
How do I get files after I buy?
Starter and Pro arrive by email as download links right after checkout.
Can Done-For-You be paid over time?
Yes—3 payments of $500 is available. The first payment is the non-refundable retainer that reserves the build.
