1. Decide how big the court will be
Many families choose a court of 4 to 14 couples, but there’s no fixed rule. Think about your dance floor, your budget for outfits and how many people you can count on to come to every rehearsal. A smaller, committed court looks better than a big one with missing dancers.
2. Pick a chambelán de honor first
The chambelán de honor is her main partner for the waltz. Choose someone she’s comfortable with, who’s reliable and who can handle a few extra steps and lifts. Once he’s set, the rest of the court falls into place around him.
3. Friends, family or hired chambelanes?
- Friends and cousins bring meaning, but schedules, sports and school can get in the way of rehearsals.
- Hired chambelanes are trained dancers who already know how to partner, learn quickly and show up on time.
- A mixed court works well too: keep the friends and family who matter most and fill the rest with trained dancers.

4. What to look for
- Commitment: can he make every rehearsal and the event day?
- Age and maturity: our chambelanes and damas are ages 13 to 18, close to the quinceañera’s age, so the court looks and feels natural together.
- Attitude: polite, patient and easy to work with.

5. Decide early
